Why Mediation?

Personal matters should stay personal.

Courts are not set up to meet everyone’s needs.
The court’s timeline dictates how long your case will be, and a judge’s decision will likely never be able to address each of your concerns. Lack of control, overloaded dockets, and a dragged-out timelines are common in litigation and create frustration.

Mediation allows you to construct a unique agreement that feels good for everyone.

Mediation saves people thousands of dollars every year by avoiding litigation, lawyer fees, and often requires fewer meetings.

Take back your own timeline.
Take back control of the process.
Determine your own future.

What is Mediation?

Mediation is a system of conflict resolution that allows informed parties to collaborate on a solution with the guidance of a third party (the mediator).

The mediator ensures that each person is able to make decisions from a fully informed position, and the parties get to co-create their own resolution.

Why Choose Us?

With Agency Mediation, you always have someone in your corner. Melissa and Amelia work together during meetings, making sure each party is heard and supported. This extra care allows for more ease and satisfaction in the long run; ensuring your needs and desires are met from the start.

Our process helps you gain an understanding of the underlying motives and desires, enabling you to make every decision consciously. This allows for lasting impact and satisfaction.

Meet the Team:

Melissa E. Bekisz

Amelia Hernandez Carbajal Jones

Melissa E. Bekisz is a mediator and attorney based in New York City. Separately from Agency Mediation, she opened her own law office in 2020. Melissa’s practice focuses on law that impacts the average person - this includes trust and estates (planning and administration), estate litigation, corporate and small business law, and real estate law and litigation.

Melissa was inspired to go to law school after experiencing her own family tragedy that was compounded by a lack of estate planning. After the loss of several close family members, she witnessed her mother and grandmother work with lawyers for years to resolve family financial matters that became more complicated due to the lack of estate planning. She hopes to make things easier for other families through her work.

Melissa was the youngest elected female judge in New York State – she was elected as the Village Justice of Stewart Manor, New York in 2017 and served a four year term ending in 2021. She feels incredibly lucky to have been able to serve in this position in the Village where she grew up.

Through Melissa’s personal experience, and her time as a Judge and litigator, she believes in the necessity to provide alternative resolutions to families and businesses outside of the court system.

Melissa graduated St. John's Law in 2013, and Manhattan University (previously Manhattan College) in 2010. Melissa volunteers as a career mentor with Manhattan University, and is on the Alumni Leadership Council at St. John’s Law.

Amelia is an international opera singer and professional intuitive carefully guiding people back to their power. For the past seven years, they've run a successful life coaching business with clients around the world, affectionately named “the divorce doula” for services rendered.

This foundation is enhanced by experience as a birth, postpartum, and death doula - roles that provided profound insights into life's thresholds and transitions. Over a decade of focused study on trauma has yielded a practical understanding of how it manifests physically, what inhibits action, and how to transform these patterns into empowered self-expression.
